Frequently Asked Questions

How can I access a medicare rebate?

Medicare provide rebates of $141.85 for 10 sessions with a clinical psychologist per calendar year. Please see your General Practitioner (GP) for a Mental Health Care Plan, which will allow you to claim this rebate.

You are also able to claim some of the session fee back from private health insurance if Clinical Psychology is included in your plan. Please note that you cannot claim both private health and medicare on the same session.

Rebates are not able to be used to cover any cancellation fees for sessions you do not attend or cancel late.

For Autism assessments, a medicare rebate can be used if you are under 25 and have a referral from a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist.

What are your fees?

Therapy sessions are billed at $270 for a 50-60 minute appointment.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you are unable to attend your appointment, please provide as much notice as possible. The following cancellation policy is in place so that the appointment time may be offered to another person in need.

Cancellations within 24 hours of the session, or sessions where you do not attend, are charged a 100% cancellation fee. Please note that medicare rebates and DVA can not be used to cover cancellation fees.

It is understandable that sometimes you may be unable to attend your appointment because of sudden illness or an unexpected personal emergency. If this is the case, please contact Sarah as soon as possible.

What are your Autism assessment packages?

I offer several options for people wanting to explore their neurotype. Please get in touch to discuss some options that might suit you.

Please note that an assessment does not guarantee a diagnosis.

Reports are available between 4-8 weeks after interviews and psychometrics have been completed.

A 25% deposit is required to book an assessment.

How do you assess Autism?

As a neuro-affirming service, we use the MIGDAS-2 (a structured clinical interview) and a number of psychometric assessments. The assessment will feel like a regular conversation and we will discuss your background, interests and sensory preferences.

Assessments can be conducted face to face or via telehealth.

Please note that assessments are video recorded. This helps the clinician to remain present with you, rather than scribbling notes.

Do you offer ADHD assessments?

ADHD is well managed with medication. Psychiatrists need to complete their own assessment in order to prescribe medication. We are happy to provide some screening and an opinion about whether you would benefit from seeing a Psychiatrist.
